I never thought I’d be as excited as I’ve been for the release of Orange Is The New Black, Season 3 on Netflix. I started watching both seasons when season 2 was released in 2014. There was so much talk about it all over L.A. that I had to see what the hype was about. Within one week, I had become obsessed after watching both seasons on a bender.
Orange is the New Black is based on Piper Kerman’s book “My Year in a Women’s Prison.” We watch the prisoners of Litchfield, NY co-exist (or at least try to) amongst eachother. There’s drama, sexual encounters amongst inmates, inappropriate conduct with the prison guards and really bad living conditions. Certain inmates like Red and V each have their own ‘hustles’ within the prison trying to have a piece of the outside world by illegally bringing in women’s products, tobacco and drugs. Things are definitely not rosy at Litchfield with the mix of dangerous women trying to live and survive while at the same time attempting to have some form of ‘family’ within the prison.
It’s one of the best shows out right now. I love how Netflix allows you to watch a whole season as opposed to waiting each week for drama to unfold as is the case with television shows/series.
Orange was supposed to be released today, June 12, 2014, however, Netflix surprised us all and released it last night as “a reward for good behaviour!” Thank you Netflix!
I just started watching season 2 again last week to prep up to the excitement of the season 3 release. I can’t wait to see what happens in season 3. Season 2 had a dramatic ending so I’m really curious to see if certain characters made it out alive!
Rumour has it that filming for season 4 is starting this upcoming Monday to be released Spring 2016! This is super exciting, but, I wish that Netflix didn’t make us wait that long!
I hope you have a chance to check out “Orange Is The New Black!” Don’t forget to wear orange on Wednesdays!
